The Hockwold Amateur Theatrical Society (HATS)’s Cinderella is a fun production. We attended the opening night’s performance and the interplay of audience interaction, and the opening night teething-pains made for a magical combination. The employment of Norfolk inside jokes aided in giving the show not only a local flavour, but also fostered the classic feel of British AmDram.
It being opening night, some of the comedic timing misfired in the delivery of some of the scripted innuendo; but there were indeen plenty of laughs to be had. The real-life sisters, Bertie Sander and Kaci Sinclair brought a hilarious sibling interplay which made them stand out as Cinder’s step-sisters. Sam Ward as the Town Crier was another stand-out. Deniene Green’s Prince Charming was played to near perfection, with a true sense of panache. This was another wonderful show by HATS and I look forward to future productions.
