After much anticipation the talent show, produced by HATS, provided a array of entertainment from the local community bringing people together for a unique and fun night out!
Hosted by HATS own Chairman Gary Sander, he got the full room warmed up and ready to welcome each act onto the stage, with warmth, charisma and humour for the whole evening.
The first act onto the stage was Brenda Wilson with a Limerick, which followed a hilarious story and provided plenty of laughs for the audience as she didn't miss a beat!
Second to perform was Phoebe Farrow, young and talented, she performed the song of 'A Million Dreams' from the movie 'The Greatest Showman' and received a well earnt round of applause as she confidently delivered that beautiful song.
After we had Suzie Sander and Fran Garner with a comedy skit which amused the audience. Fran began the skit with wit and a bit of audience interaction before Suzie was revealed hiding behind a screen, in brilliantly done puppet make up as a ventriloquist dummy come to life. They bounced off each other well and provided plenty of laughs.
Following the comedy skit, we had Tricia and Carolina who sang ' I like it' which had a few audience members join in, as the show was on a roll!
We then had another vocal performance by Fran Bool who embraced her inner Cindi Lauper as she sang the hit song 'Time after Time' dressed up as the famous singer, with a purple skirt and large bow in her hair.
After a couple of songs we moved onto another Comedy Skit, led by Andrew Gookey who performed 'This is your Strife!' a parody on the show 'This is your Life' this skit included some cameos from HATS members, and gained a lot of laughs as Andrew revealed people who the person featured on the 'show', and their wife would rather forget about.
From one Comedy Skit to another, we had Deniene and Lane Green who performed their own written piece, 'Prince's First Kiss' - Deniene was taking the role of a Prince who had to kiss the sleeping Princess, and was following a 'Kissing for dummies' book. Lane was dressed in a beautiful wig and dress as he played the role of the Princess. This performance gained many, many laughs and hysterical reactions and provided great slapstick comedy, and at the end a cameo from Sam Ward finished this well-written and performed skit.
From Sleeping Beauty to an act that would keep anyone awake, Keith Bool performed to the song Firestarter, dazzling in a bright green wig and heavy eye make up, he also did some dancing in his performance, and provided a memorable finish to the first act.
After the interval the local singing troupe 'The Melody Makers' brought us back to the Wild West, dressed up as cowboys and performing their piece 'The Good, The bad and the Ugly' featuring a classic piece of music heard in almost all western films. The ad-libs had great reactions from the audience who enjoyed this act. Another point was that they played the instruments from the guitar, drum, recorder and sound effects!
After a visit from the Wild West, Tricia performed as a solo to the song 'Those Were the Days' which the audience enthusiastically joined in with, clapping along to the classic tune!
The Melody Makers performed again, this time with a segment from their 'Water Programme' a 12 minute musical adventure featuring some sea-shanty's, old folk songs, My heart will go on and more.
Following the Melody Maker's, we had a lovely performance by Yua & Phoebe (Yua playing on guitar & Phoebe singing) with the song Edelweiss from 'The Sound of Music'. This was a beautiful rendition of the song, which gained a lot of support from the audience.
As we approached our last few performances, the next one was Sue Perry who played her guitar to some recognisable 'Guitar Classics'.
From guitar to glam rock, we had Tricia, Carolina and Fran joining forces for their own ABBA tribute! Performing Dancing Queen and Mumma Mia, dressed in ABBA-propriate attire and letting the audience have a good boogie!
Once everyone was seated and no 'Dancing Queen' was formally announced, The Green family sang to a layered, fun and upbeat song, with each family member performing having their own solo moments, which went down a treat. - This was their last time on a HATS stage before leaving, and HATS will miss them all greatly.
Last but not least, we had Lewis who bought a lot of energy to the stage as he performed a dance which hyped the audience up, pulling out great moves and getting everyone moving - an amazing end to the show!
After all the acts had performed the points were tallied up, and revealed we announced the top 3!
1st Place - Yua & Pheobe - Edelweiss
2nd Place - Pheobe - A Million Dreams
3rd Place - Tricia, Carolina & Fran - ABBA Tribute
To finish, well done to the winners and a big thank you to those who came to support the Talent Show, we were delighted to see how well-received this show was and we had a lot of fun doing it!
